Lisbon Hen Parties

A hen weekend in Lisbon is a guaranteed hit! Known as the city of seven hills because, you guessed it, it was built on seven hills. Lisbon is packed with stunning views, beautiful architecture and social media-worthy photo ops that are sure to make all your friends back home super jealous!

What to Expect During a Lisbon Hen Do

Explore the winding streets and get your shopping fix at the flea markets. Mind out for those cobbles if you’re wearing heels though! With lots of shopping, sights, sun, sea, sand and even a Sangria Bike! This city that’s sunny all year round is the perfect hen getaway.

There are a whole range of activities to enjoy, from relaxing in a spa to surfing in the ocean and exploring the city with a treasure hunt to finding your way out of an escape room. With good food and good wine – Lisbon is already looking like a pretty good idea!

Once night falls, you’ll discover a massive range of buzzing bars where the party spills on to the streets. When in Lisbon, you’ve got to taste a ginjinha, Portugal’s national drink. Beware though, this yummy cherry liqueur has a pretty high alcohol content! This drink is usually served in a shot glass so knock one back whilst you’re in the city and savour its sweet taste before you carry on your night out.

Get your best Portu-gals together (see what we did there?) and get ready to explore this gorgeous destination!

Reviews for Lisbon hen activities

High Ropes Course

Unfortunately we were unable to do the high ropes as at least 3 of the 12 participants were over 100kg in weight. This was disappointing as the information was not disclosed to us and I think is an important piece of information when booking for this activity. Nevertheless, the hosts were very accommodating and were able to switch us on to Paintballing as a group which was great. They really engaged with us and made it a fun experience which helped in forgetting the disappointment of high ropes.

The Best Time to Visit Lisbon

When planning a hen do in Lisbon, it’s best to think about when to go well ahead of time. As different seasons of the year can vastly change the price of not only plane tickets but accommodation, as well as how crowded the city will be.

March to May and September to October are the best times to go when the weather’s warm, the hotels are cheaper and of course there’ll be fewer crowds. If you can’t stand the heat too much then this is a very pleasant time of year to come!

Alternatively, you can head to this city in the summer months where the sun is stronger, the temperature is hotter, and the streets are crowded. This is, of course, a very popular time to come so make sure you book ahead to ensure your hotel space!

An unusual, but not unheard of, time to come is from November through to February when the weather is cooler but still pleasant and warmer than the UK! The prices will drop at this time and you’ll have the city to yourselves and the locals.

Getting around

Getting to Lisbon is easy as the airport is just a short distance into the main city of Lisbon. Once you’re here, you can hop on the Metro line that serves 56 stations in total. If you’re looking for more of a scenic route, take a tram to get you where you need to go. Or for a unique experience you can jump on the number 28 tram and ride the whole route that turns out to be one of the best tours in the city!
With the weather so warm it makes it perfect to do some walking and explore the city by foot or bicycle. After a night out your best bet might be to jump in a taxi who’ll take you straight to your front door.
